THE FIRST INDIAN SCJ IN HEAVEN TO PRAY FOR US ALL

The Community of Eluru here by expresses its deepest sentiments of sympathy and condolence to the family members and friends of our late novice Bro. Thomas Reddy. As members of the Dehonian family, we the congregation commiserates with Fr. Sebastian and all his novices, over the loss of a beloved member in our Indian district.
On receiving a call from Fr. Sebastian on Sunday night, we were informed about the death of our brother Thomas who had been suffering from cancer for one month. The following morning, we set off our journey towards the village of Bro. Thomas situated in Günter District.
The body lay on a cot. The parents of Thomas and relatives gathered around the cot were weeping and wailing over the loss of their dear one. The sight of their suffering was unbearable to everyone who witnessed it. The People, who assembled there, joined us in prayer that the merciful God will give peace to the soul of Bro. Thomas.
Fr. Sebastian, (the novice master) and all his novices from nambur, Fr. Angel ,Fr. Mathew, Fr.Valerio and Bro. Joseph Kumar from Gorantla, Fr. Kus , Fr. Beppe , Bro. Leonard and the brothers from Eluru were present as a community expressing our deep sorrow and sympathy for the family of Bro. Thomas.

Around 4.30 pm, the body was carried in a coffin to the church near by. The holy mass was offered in the church by Fr. Kus. Father Ambrose, the Jesuit novice master and sisters from Günter joined, in communion with the large number of people gathered for the mass. While delivering the homily, the Father Y.L. Marreddy who sent Thomas to our congregation said, “Fathers and Brothers of sacred heart congregation believe that Thomas is in heaven today. He has been called to serve God as an scj in heaven. God has chosen Thomas to praise him along with the angels in heaven. He is there interceding and praying for his earthly fathers and brothers in India”.
After The holy mass, the body was taken to the cemetery followed by a lot of people. The former parish priest presided the final rites before the burial. After a while, the body was kept open for the last glance of people gathered around. We all departed the village carrying in us the loving and unforgettable memory of Bro. Thomas Reddy in all of our hearts.
With Assuring prayers ,
