THE COMPASSIONATE HEART OF CHRIST
Our religious life has to have always a universal vision of giving the compassion of God to all the people. Our eyes should be kept open to see all the realities of life outside, especially to the reality of suffering, rejection, and expolitation. Our attitude towards this reality of life needs an active orientaion because the world today moves in so much of detachment by adapting itself to the modern disease of overthrowing, overtaking our fellow human beings in all the way possible. The world seems to to have everything for the sucessful and powerful but fails and lacks in showing the compassion to the rest, sidelined as worthless and useless. The world exhibits its urgent need to have the treatment of God with the medicine called COMPASSION through us.
Today, we see in the Gospel how Jesus recognizes the need of the people who were with him. When he pities the people who were with him for three days, I was reminded of our summer experience in Varanasi. There is a small hut for prayer called upasana kutir in the ashram, set aside for all who want to spend 3 days in fasting and praying, and our brothers jojappa ch and christy witnessed a graceful time and unforgettable experience of being with lord in constant prayer and fasting for 3 days. Dear friends,To spend our time with lord gives an end to all our doubts and worries. It is from whom we all can draw our strenth and hope to look after and to restore back to God the fallen humanity or multitude of this 21st century . Just remember the question that jesus asks the disciples how many loaves do you have? To speak in personal terms, on this question of jesus I feel the question has passed on to me as if jesus asking me to take account of my talents, skills, that I am endowed with for the welfare of my near and far ones.As the five loaves and few fish seemed insufficient to the multitude, so also our talents, skills, good works of charity and service may seem so small, little, insufficient, well ,may be like a drop in the vast ocean, when we think to bandage the great wound on the humanity. But never mind , what we need to give to God is all that little we have, and see the wonders he will do through ourlife to make this earth filled with his compassion.
