As it is the custom in our house to celebrate the birthdays and feast days at the last Saturday of the month today (26-8-06) had our celebrations. Today we had celebration for three people. The birthday of Bro. Ajit, the perpetual profession of Bro. Thomas, and thirty eight years of the religious life of Bro. Leonard. And it was indeed wonderful celebration. And Bro. Leonard played a wonderful music for us. And that is what is following:

Blowin’ in the Wind

How many roads must a man walk down,
Before you call him a man?

Yes, ‘n’ how many seas must a white dove sail,
Before she sleeps in the sand?

Yes ‘n’ how many times must the cannon bulls fly,
Before they’re forever banned?

The answer my fried, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

How many times must a man look up,
Before he can see the sky?

Yes, ‘n’ how many ears must one man have,
Before he can hear people cry?

Yes, ‘n’ how many deaths will it take ,
Till he knows that too many people have died?

The answer, my fired, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist,
Before it’s washed to the sea?

Yes ‘n’ how may years can some people exist,
Before they’re allowed to be free?

Yes ‘n’ how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn’t see?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind.
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

THREE POEMS .... JUST FOR YOU ONLY.

The three following poems are from our recollection for the month of August lead by Fr. Mathew scj.

1

My precious child

My dear Precious child
Even before I placed you
In you mother’s womb
I knew you.
I loved you into existence
From the depths of my
Eternal Heart of Love.
There you were born;
There your soul and heart were formed
By Me and fro Me
There you will always stay:
Always with Me,
Surrounded by My love.
Always you are My Precious Child
That I have created for the purpose of Love.

Come to My open arms of Love for you!
I wait here on the Cross.
I wait here in the tabernacle.
I wait here in your heart.
Reach our for this special Love, My child
That is only for you
You I desire
You I wait in Silence.
It is for you I pine for,
It is you I died for
To bring you to me forever.
My love that is deeper than the universe.
Longer than eternity,
Is here for you.

Will you open your heart to me?
Will you become my sanctuary?
Will your heart accept
This precious Love I offer you?
When I have filled you to over flowing.
Will you spill My Love out to the world.

Open wide the doors of your heart!
Let Me come in fully
And form you into the Precious Jewel
I have in mind for you.
My love is for your, my child,
My Precious One
Come and take me in.

2
I am here

O Lord of life,
I have heard you crying day and night
Outside the hearts of Your people.
You call out to them and wait for their answerer!
“See My lover for you?” you cry.
“Hear my love for you?” you moan.
“Open the doors of your hearts to Me” You beg.
“Without Me you are lost
Within Me you are fond”.
I feel You pain echoed in my heart
And my heart cries out for you.
I am here for you, my Lord
Take me!

As You enter my heart
My soul is flooded with Your life.
The deep waters of my love stir
And as fountains, spring froth.
You life, once again pours forth
In joy and peace and Longing.
“Where are my People” You cry to me
“Can they not hear my cries”?
I am here I whisper.

‘My Love brings them life”, you tenderly cry.
“Why is this so hard”?As Your Heart is pierced once again
Your tears wash through my soul.
And spring forth fertile ground.
You hand me the Keys.”Open their hearts for Me”,
Your Sacred Heart sings.
I am here, I whisper.

3
I am yours

Most perfect, most sacred heart of My savior,
Unending, limitless Source of Life and Love,
You, who have loved so perfectly,
So passionately, so profoundly,
With nothing held back,
You are the Source and object
Of my deepest desire.
This day and always I (Name), give over to You
Everything that I am
And everything that I ever will be.
All I am that only you know completely
I fully, consciously, deliberately, and lovingly
Surrender to You, becoming a willing captive
To Your Sacred Heart of Love.

Whatever You desire of me, You will have
Wherever You lead me, I will go

I hear You calling.
You take my hands in Yours,
Leading me to where You want me.
I yield to You
To your movements, like a magnet.
Allowing my spirit to be docile to Yours,
Trusting You with my soul,
Loving You with my heart,
I give myself over in total Consecration
To Your Sacred Heart of Love
Where I wish to remain eternally.

On a day of double celebration – independence and Assumption of Our Lady- it was a third grate celebration in the district of India. And that is none other than the celebration of the Perpetual Profession of Bro. Vinod Thomas Chttilippilly SCJ. It took place in the Sacred Heart Novitiate in Namburu. And Fr. Martin was the main celebrant. And we had the family members of brother and many of our good friends and religious from Eluru and Guntur. And it was a indeed a simple celebration but a grate one. After the profession there was a cake cutting and agape in sharing of love and gratitude to the Lord in tune with people of God. It was indeed wonderful to have Fr. Carlos form Venezuela. And many of our conferrers from Kerala and Andhra.

We the community of the Priests of the SACRED HEART would like to wish a very happy Independence Day to all our brothers and sisters all over India. For our brothers and sisters who suffer in Kashmir, who are suffering in Gujarat of flood, who are deprived of their rights and privileges in a caste society, in a place of fight for rites. For all our brothers and sisters who do not know about freedom and God’s love in their life. We offer this day of Independence in your feet for your real freedom and prosperity.

The Feast Celebrated

The community of the Priests of the Sacred Heart celebrated the feast of Fr. Dehon. The feast was celebrated in a very worthy manner. The celebration was begun on Friday night with the beginning of monthly recollection guided by Fr. Mathew SCJ. And it was indeed very well prepared and done well. And on Saturday morning the novices came along with the Master to our community and we had our last talk of the recollection with them. And it was well accepted by all. And after that we had our Holy Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Mathew. And concelebrated by all the three other fathers. And it was really heart touching sermon too. And we had our Lunch together and after a short time we left to see the construction of the house. And a round in our college campus. And after spending a short time there we came back to our house back. And had a glass of tea or water. And then words of thanks by novices and guitar played by Fr. Sebastian in praise to the Lord Jesus. And some music and clapping and a good time and a very special day’s celebration came to an end. Though it was simple it was meaningful and all felt at home with the celebration and all had only one word in the heart and lips and that is “Praise the Lord”.

Raksha Bandhan

India is a land of verities and differences. Today (9-8-2006) we have a special celebration. Please read it and enjoy.
Raksha Bandhan is the celebration and read about it as it follows.

The Festival
The relationships are the essence of celebration. This holds true for any Indian festival. Each festival brings the families together. That mere togetherness is celebration. It calls for a total festive environment. The celebration of one such relationship is Raksha Bandhan; the celebration of brother sister relationship. The sibling relationship is nowhere so celebrated as in India. The brother sister relationship is no where so worshiped as here. It is this affection and love that is celebrated on the Raksha Bandhan. Raksha Bandhan is a festival celebrating the bond of affection between brothers and sisters. The day when the siblings pray for each others' well being and wish for each others' happiness and goodwill. As the name 'Raksha Bandhan' suggests, 'a bond of protection', Raksha Bandhan is a pledge from brothers to protect the sister from all harms and troubles and a prayer from the sister to protect the brother from all evil. The festival falls on the Shravan Purnima (full moon day of shravan month) which comes generally in the month of August. The sisters tie the silk thread called rakhi on their brother's wrist and pray for their well being and brothers promise to take care of their sisters. The festival is unique to India creates a feeling of belongingness and oneness amongst the family.

The Significance

Though now it is considered as a brother and sister festival, it was not always so. There have been examples in history where in rakhi has just been a raksha or protection. It could be tied by wife, a daughter or mother. The Rishis tied rakhi to the people who came seeking their blessings. The sages tied the sacred thread to themselves to safe guard them from the evil. It is by all means the 'Papa Todak, Punya Pradayak Parva' or the day that bestows boons and ends all sins as it is mentioned in the scriptures. Rakhi for many centuries encompassed the warmth shared between the siblings but now it goes way beyond it. Some tie rakhi to neighbors and close friends signifying a peaceful co-existence of every individual. Congregations like Rakhi Utsavs, popularized by Rabindranath Tagore, promote the feeling of unity and a commitment to all members of society to protect each other and encourage a harmonious Social life. The day has a deeper perspective in today's scenario. The occasion holds for a life long pledge to practice moral, spiritual and cultural values. The values and the sentiments attached to the rituals of this festival are worth inculcating by the whole human race, the sentiments of harmony and peaceful coexistence. Raksha Bandhan assumes all forms of Raksha or protection, of righteousness and destroyer of all sin. The rakhi tying ritual has become so much a part of the families that come what may brothers and sisters try to reach out to each other on this particular day bringing back the oneness of the family, binding the family together in an emotional bond.

This celebration also has a universal meaning. That is the relation between the people of God. Wherever they are they all related and united by an unseen code that comes to us through the life of Jesus. And that need to be respected beyond color and cast and creed. And that message is highlighted through this feast. So this is our feast- feast of the world- to respect and safe guard the life of each and every human life- whether that is born or unborn.

We as community of the Priests of the Sacred Heart would like to offer this celebration of life to all our dear sisters and brothers who are threatened of their life in Lebanon, in Iraq, in Afghanistan and in the valley of Kashmir and so on. May the life be respected and rights may be up lifted is our sincere prayer for you all.
